Helen Fookes was baptised on Monday, 30 August 1858 at Windermere, Tasmania.2 She was born on 30 August 1858 at Launceston, Tasmania.3,1 She was the daughter of Rev. Samuel Berjew Fookes and Louisa Jean Hobkirk.1 She presumably lived with her parents at Colebrook Dale, Tasmania, in July 1861.4

She attended James Sutherland Babbington and her sister. Grace Fookes's wedding in a Church of England cermony at St. David's Mission Church Campbell Street. Her father officiated at the wedding on Wednesday, 12 August 1885 at Hobart. This was the first marriage to ever take place in this church. As was the tradition, she was presented with a bible by the churchwardens. James and Grace went on to have three children together.8,9,10,1

Helen died on 11 February 1946 at Hobart at age 87.1
