Charles Dunrich Roberts was baptised on Thursday, 3 September 1829 at Lulworth, Dorset.2 He was the son of Lazarus Roberts and Mary Fooks.1
He was recorded as living with his parents and younger siblings, Arthur, Mary, Catherine and Ellen in the 1841 census at at Brightlingsea Street in the village of Brightlingsea near the town of Colchester, Essex. He was recorded as being 12 years old.3
