Jonathan was born circa 12 October 1800 at Mayfield, Sussex.2
He married Ann Grubb, daughter of William Grubb and Elizabeth Reid, on Monday, 12 October 1840 at Goulburn, New South Wales. Jonathon and Anne applied to marry some six weeks after her arrival in the colony..2,1,3
Jonathan was convicted of robbery on in August 1842 and had to forfeit his substantial holdings; this left Ann in a precarious position. Caring for Jonathan's five children, only one of whom was her own, she applied to the Governor for help but was rejected.4
By May 1853, Ann and Jonathan were definitely no longer a couple as Jonathan applied to marry Mary Anne Squires, a fellow convict half his age.2
Jonathan died on 4 October 1891 at Benella, Victoria.2
