Thomas Wayte may have been born circa 1794 at England.2 He was the son of Thomas Wayte and Mary (?)1 Thomas Wayte was baptised on Sunday, 24 May 1795 at Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire.1

He married Hannah Sharpe, daughter of William Sharpe, at St. Peters' Church on Monday, 9 October 1820 at Hartshorne, Derbyshire..3 Thomas (and presumably his spouse Hannah) lived in May 1823 at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire.4

In Thomas Wayte's will, His son Thomas Wayte was named sole executor by Thomas to handle his estate on 20 May 1823. His daughter Susannah was named as the sole benficiary, but several lines of the will were redacted.4

A Thomas Wayte was listed as a Bookseller and Stationer, also operating a circulating library in Market Street, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire.5 Thomas Wayte was a printer.6

The will of his father Thomas Wayte, in which Thomas Wayte was named sole executor was probated on 18 November 1837 at London.4 Thomas was employed as postmaster at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire, on 1 March 1838. He was required to pay a £400 bond.6

He may have been the postmaster for Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire, where the mail "arriveThomas Wayte every morning at nine and is dispatched every afternoon at a quarter before five".7 A Thomas Wayte was also listed in 1841 as a bookseller, Stationer, Printer & Libraries "(and music seller and subscription news room and library)" in Market Place, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire.7

He was recorded as head of household in the 1841 census at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire.8 His occupation was recorded as being a printer in the census.8

Thomas Wayte married Catherine Goodman circa March 1843 at Ashby-de-la-Zouch Registration District, Leicestershire.9,10

He was recorded as head of household in the 1851 census with Catherine Goodman as his spouse. He was recorded as being 56 years old.10 His occupation was recorded as being a printer, bookseller and stationer employing three men in the census.10

He was recorded as head of household in the 1861 census with Catherine Goodman as his spouse at Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire.11 His occupation was recorded as being a printer, stationer and postmaster in the census.11 Thomas Wayte was the postmaster, as well as being a bookseller, stationer and printer circa 1862 at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire.12

Thomas may have died circa December 1867 at Ashby-de-la Zouch, Leicestershire. His age was recorded as being 73.2
