James Manthorpe was born on 23 September 1821 at Herringfleet, Suffolk.2 He was the son of William Manthorpe and Hannah Read.2
He was recorded as living with his parents and his younger siblings Hannah, Robert and Andrew in the 1841 census at Herringfleet, Suffolk. He was recorded as being 19 years old.3
He married Sarah Maria Warner, on Sunday, 7 March 1847 at Lound, Suffolk..4
His mother died 13 August 1872 at the age of 85 at the approximate age of 86. James was aged 50 when this happened.
His father died June 1873 at the age of 86. James was aged 51 when this happened.
James died in March 1895 at Mutford, Suffolk, at age 73.2
