George Price Deane was born in 1841 at Cork.1 He was the son of Kyrl Allen Deane and Mary Lucinda Gregg.1 He presumably moved with his parents to Boulogne-Sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais, France, circa 1848.2 Deane Crescent is named in commemoration of George Price Deane, a cook for the Officers Mess in GW Goyder's NT Survey Expedition to Palmerston in 1869. He was later employed as a teamster. Deane accompanied George McLachlan in an exploration to find traces of John McDouall Stuart's 1862 journey from Katherine, north to Point Stuart. Deane with colleague C. F. Wells found Stuart's tree at Kekwick Springs. In October 1870, Deane was sent out to Escape Cliffs to pick up stray stock left by Colonel Finniss following his aborted attempt to establish a settlement at Escape Cliffs.1
George Price Deane married Ellen Bayfield on Monday, 24 July 1871 at Adelaide.1
His father died 14 December 1878 at the approximate age of 78. He was a station manager circa 1880 at Erlinga, in.1
His mother died 10 December 1886.

George died on 22 March 1904 at Parakylia, South Australia.1
