Emma Skerman was born circa 1848 at Hertford.2 She was the daughter of William Skerman and Mary Ann Darby.1 The city of Hertford dates back to at least 673, and was an important market town surrounded by agricultural land. From the late 16th century, it had access to the London corn markets via the Lea river.



She was recorded as living with her parents and older siblings Charles, Eliza and George in the 1851 census at Parliament Row, Hertford.3

She was recorded as living with her parents and siblings Charles, Eliza and George in the 1861 census at Hertford.4

She was recorded as living with her parents and siblings Eliza and Charles in the 1871 census at Hertford.5

She was recorded as living with her mother, her brother and his wife and their two sons. in the 1881 census at Hertford.6

Emma died circa March 1933 at Hemel Hempstead registration district, London.7
