Rosa Amelia Finer was born circa March 1856 at Hertford.1 She was the daughter of George Finer and Elizabeth Darby.1 The city of Hertford dates back to at least 673, and was an important market town surrounded by agricultural land. From the late 16th century, it had access to the London corn markets via the Lea river.



She was recorded as living with her parents, a sevant and her sisters Elizabeth, Emily, Alice and Kate in the 1861 census at 8 Victoria Road, Shoreditch, London. She was recorded as being 5 years old.2 Rosa Amelia Finer was an infant's milliner in April 1881.3

She was recorded as living with her parents and sisters Alice and Harriet in the 1881 census at 6 Deddington Terrace Beaumont Road, Leyton, Essex. She was recorded as being 25 years old.4,5 Rosa Amelia Finer was a milliner in April 1891.6

She was recorded as living with her elderly parents and her sister Harriet and Harriet in the 1891 census at 160 Elderfield Road, Hackney, London. She was recorded as being 34 years old.7

She was recorded as living with her widowed mother Elizabeth, her unmarried sister Harriet and her niece Alice in the 1901 census at Blurton Road, Hackney, London. She was recorded as being 42 years old.8 Rosa Amelia Finer was a milliner in April 1911.9

She was recorded as living with her married sister Emily and her husband, her sister Kate and with a neice born of another sister. in the 1911 census at 'Cambourne' Falmouth Avenue, Chingford, Walthamstow, Essex. She was recorded as being She was recorded as being 55 years old.. Another sister was in a workhouse.9

Rosa died unmarried circa March 1947 at Hendon registration district, London.10
