George James Denness was born on 8 October 1858 at Adelaide.2 He was the son of Samuel Denness and Rosa Akeroyde.2

He married Louisa Margaret Darby, daughter of Thomas Darby and Jessie Nicholson, at her parent's house on Thursday, 16 April 1891 at Minlacowie, South Australia. He was 32 and his wife Louisa was 39. Louisa was the daughter of a farmer.. Others who almost certainly attended the wedding include Jessie Nicholson as mother of the bride and Thomas Darby as father of the bride. Brothers and sisters who may have attended include Edward Baker Darby, John Darby, Alice Darby, James Alexander Darby, Emily Mary Darby and Jessie Darby. George and Louisa went on to have three children together.1
