Mary Child was born circa 1817 at Leeds.1

Mary Child married James Breach circa December 1841.2,1

Mary Child was recorded as the spouse of James Breach in the 1851 census at Wycliffe Cottage, Richmond, Yorkshire. Also in the house were five of their children.3

Mary Child was listed as a servant in the household of James Breach in the 1861 census at Pool End Lane at Temperance Grove, Stretford, Lancashire. She was recorded as being 42 years old.. Also living in the house were three of their children.4

Mary, as the mother of the groom, along with James may have attended the wedding of James and Emma Miller in a Church of England ceremony at St. Peter's on Wednesday, 6 May 1868 Emma's father was a cotton mill manager at Bolton, Lancashire.. Others who may have attended include Mary Fairclough as mother of the bride and Robert T. Miller as father of the bride. Emma and James went on to have six children together.5

Mary Child was recorded as the spouse of James Breach in the 1871 census at Alexandra Road, Moss Side, Manchester. Also living in her house were three of their children.6

She was recorded as head of household in the 1881 census at Hawthorn Villa in Mayfield Road, Withington, Lancashire. She shared this house with her daughter.7

Mary Child was recorded as a boarder in the household of James B. Neild in the 1891 census at Palatine Road, Altrincham, Cheshire.8
