Henry Ernest Nicholson was born on 28 May 1891 at Winton, Queensland.1 He was the son of Daniel Malcolm McBean Nicholson and Catherine Ann O'Reilly.1 Henry was listed on the roll as a student at Winton State Primary School, in Winton, Queensland, from 1894 to 1896.2 As of 1900, Henry Ernest Nicholson also went by the name of Strike; he got his name as he was born during the shearer's strike, one Australia's first and most important industrial disputes.3,4
His mother died June 1902 at the age of 39. Henry was aged 11 when this happened. After their mother died, their father apparently didn't help raise the children; they were fostered or looked after by family and friends in the Winton and Kyuna district. There is some suggestion that their grandmother never acknowledged her grandchildren, yet according to the birth certificates she assisted with at least some of the births..5 He was a labourer in 1913.1 Henry lived in 1913 at Kynuna, Queensland.1
Henry Ernest Nicholson married Ethel Ruby Norma King on Monday, 5 July 1915 at Charters Towers, Queensland. They were 24 and 20 respectively.1 Henry lived in 1921 at McKinlay, Queensland.1 He was a labourer in 1921.1 He was a labourer in 1922.1 Henry lived in 1922 at Criterian Hotel, in Richmond, Queensland.1
Henry Ernest Nicholson married Constance Louisa Young on Monday, 3 April 1922 at Richmond, Queensland. They were 30 and 20 respectively.6,1
Henry died on 23 May 1928 at Richmond, Queensland, at age 36 a haemerrage following an operation on an abdominal ulcer.1 He was buried on 24 May 1928 at Richmond Cemetery, in Richmond, Queensland.1
