Mary Plant was born on 14 August 1891 at Mount Leyshon, in Charters Towers, Queensland.2 She was the daughter of Henry Thorncroft Plant and Jane McLachlan.2
Mary Plant married Donald Henry Nicholson, son of Daniel Malcolm McBean Nicholson and Catherine Ann O'Reilly, on Wednesday, 3 September 1913 at Charters Towers, Queensland. They were 22 and 26 respectively.1 Mary used to light a fire on the top of a hill in Kajabbi as a warning to her husband Donald if the troopers were in town.3
The following was reported in the Police Gazette::
Mary Plant was a housemaid on 21 October 1927 at Queens Hotel, in Cloncurry, Queensland.2 She was a waitress in 1934 at Rose Hotel, in Cloncurry, Queensland.2
Mary Plant married Tom Ticehurst circa 1940.5 Mary lived in 1959 at Cubbarroo Station, in Cloncurry, Queensland.6
Mary died on 2 November 1964 at Townsville, Queensland, at age 73.2 She was buried on 2 November 1964 at at Townsville Cemetery in the Townsville suburb of Belgian Gardens, Queensland.2

"The brown saddle mare, No. 25 on this weeks list, and the bay half draught gelding No.26. the property of William A. Reid, was loaned to a man named Don Nicholson, a drover, during the year 1926. On the 18th of February, 1927, Nicholson was drowned in the Leichardt River; his horses were mustered by a man named Rose (at the request of the deceased wife), and it cannot be ascertained if the above were found, and the whereabouts of Rose is at present unknown."4
