Montague George Westbrook was born on 5 May 1874. He was the son of Thomas Westbrook and Fanny Elizabeth Lempriere. He presumably lived with his parents at at Roselle Villa in the Hobart suburb of Bellerive, Tasmania, in June 1881.1 Montague George Westbrook attended school in 1884 at The Hutchins School, in Hobart.2 He was a solicitor in 1895.3
He later joined the Mt. Lyell Mining and Railway Company at Queenstown, Tasmania.3
