Donald was born on Saturday, 10 June 1911 at Launceston, Tasmania.1 He was the son of Samuel Berjew Fooks Reid and Edith Caroline Fysh.2 He presumably lived with his parents at 'Hornsey' 9 Adelaide Street, in Launceston, Tasmania, in 1915.3
Donald William Fooks Reid married Dorothy Ellen Stedman in 1935 at Levin, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand.1 Donald William Fooks Reid was a wooldresser and flour miller.1
Donald died on 9 October 1982 at New Zealand at age 71.1 His body was interred at Mangere Cemetery at Auckland, New Zealand.1
