Harriet was born in 1811 at Taunton, Somerset.1,2 She was the daughter of John Oaten and Hannah Tamsey. She presumably moved with her parents to London circa 1811. It isn't clear what prompted the move.1 Harriet lived at Hanover Square, London.3
She married Stephen Finney, at St. George's on Saturday, 21 August 1830 at Hanover Square, London..3,4
In John Oaten's will on 21 March 1837 Hannah Tamsey, Mary Oaten, Anne Oaten, Harriet Oaten and Hannah Oaten, Elizabeth Oaten and Amelia Oaten, Harriet Finney, William Finney, Mary Barker, Harriet Oaten and Joseph Oaten were named as heirs. She was to receive her father's silver drinking mug..1
Her father died 20 November 1837 at the approximate age of 67.
Harriet died on 1 December 1844 at Kensington, London.5,1,4 Her body was interred at St. Mary on 14 December 1844 at Paddington, London.6
On 14 December 1844 her brother Henry died at the age of 32.
