Elizabeth was born on Saturday, 6 March 1802 at Norfolk Island or Tasmania, Australia.1 She was the daughter of Kennedy Murray and Anne White.

Elizabeth emigrated from Norfolk Island, Australia, circa 1813 on the 'Lady Nelson' with her mother, step-father, older brother and three younger step-siblings. this was part of the closure of the Norfolk Island settlement.2 Elizabeth arrived at Tasmania circa 1813 with her mother, step-father, older brother and three younger step-siblings.2


She married James Lucas, son of Nathanial Lucas and Olivia Gascoigne, in 1819 at Launceston, Tasmania..3

Elizabeth died on 3 May 1878 at Carngham, Victoria, at age 76.4,3,5
