William was born circa 1823 at Geril, County Sligo, Ireland.3,4 He was the son of Dr. John McMunn and Eleanor Maria Walker.2 William lived in January 1853 at St. James' Parish, in Sydney.5

He married Albina Hyde Holmes, daughter of William Hyde Holmes and Ellen O'Donnell, at St. James' Church of England on Monday, 17 January 1853 at Sydney. Albina was the daughter of a NSW police inspector. The wedding certificate was also signed by Maria Holmes. Others who may have attended the wedding include Ellen O'Donnell as mother of the bride and William Hyde Holmes as father of the bride. Brothers and sisters who may have attended include Ellen Holmes, Bridget Holmes, Margaret Holmes, Charlotte Holmes, Frances Hyde Holmes and Jane Holmes. William and Albina went on to have some 10 children together.6,7 William lived at Clifton Cottage Adelaide Street, in Brisbane.4

William died in February 1874 at Brisbane.3,8
