Frank was born on Monday, 9 March 1903 at West Wallsend, New South Wales.1,2,3 He was the son of James Preston Hocken and Helen Sophia Mason.1 However, despite his given name he was known to the family, at least, as Gordon. Frank Gordon Hocken was a wireless engineer in May 1929.1 Frank lived in May 1929 at the Sydney suburb of Potts Point.1
He married Heba Gwendolyn Smith, daughter of James Smith and Elsie Florence Darby, in an Anglican ceremony at St. Johns Bishopthorpe on Wednesday, 22 May 1929 at the Sydney suburb of Glebe. He was 26 and his wife Heba was 24. Heba was the daughter of an accountant..1 Frank and Heba lived in 1930 at at 12 Kyola Flats Royston Street in the Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst.4 At this time his occupation was given as a radio engineer in his adulthood.3,4 Frank Gordon Hocken was a manufacturer in 1933.5 Frank and Heba lived in 1933 at at 5 Ithica Flats on Ithica Road in the Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst.5 Frank and Heba lived in 1937 at at 14 Court Road in the Sydney suburb of Edgecliff.6
Frank Gordon Hocken began military service on Tuesday, 21 July 1942 at Port Moresby, New Guinea, at age 39.2
Frank was a captain.3,2 He was released from active duty on 17 August 1944.2
John and Frank, married to sisters, became good friends.7 He was an engineer in 1954.8 Frank and Heba lived in 1954 at at 14 Court Road in the Sydney suburb of Double Bay.8 Frank and Heba lived in 1958 at 11 Painters Lane, in Terrigal, New South Wales.9 Frank and Heba lived in February 1966 at 23 Barnhill Road, in Terrigal, New South Wales.10
Frank died in June 1975 at the Sydney suburb of at age 72.11 His body was interred at Newtown Cemetery at the Sydney suburb of Newtown.11
