Margaret was born on Friday, 2 August 1867 at Forbes, New South Wales.1 She was the daughter of Hugh Joseph Sutherland and Margaret Nicholson. She presumably moved with her parents to Cobar, New South Wales, circa 1880.2

Her mother died 10 August 1883. Margaret was aged 16 when this happened.3

She married Ernest Field Peacock, son of William Pinnock Peacock and Isabella Taylor, on Wednesday, 8 January 1890 at Cobar, New South Wales. She was 22 and her husband Ernest was 21. They were to have seven children together..4

She may have attended the wedding of her sister in the marriage of Henry Cyril Rogers and Alexandra Sutherland in a Wesleyan ceremony at the residence of Hugh Sutherland on Thursday, 16 March 1893 at Cornish Town, Cobar, New South Wales. Alexandra and Henry went on to have five known children together.5

Margaret died on 12 October 1954 at 9 Warialda Street, in Katoomba, New South Wales, at age 87.6,7 She was buried on 14 October 1954 at Katoomba Cemetery (Methodist section), in Katoomba, New South Wales.8
