Winifred was born on Friday, 20 October 1911 at the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.2,3 She was the daughter of Charles Henry Oaten and Mary Louisa Gedge. She lived with her mother at at 53 Hutton Avenue in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote in 1934. This was a different address to her husband Charles.4

She may have attended the wedding of her niece in the marriage of Hubert Nicholson and Mavis Lily Oaten in a Church of England ceremony at All Saints on Saturday, 17 February 1934 at the Melbourne suburb of Kooyong. Mavis married with the consent of her mother. They went on to have some eight children together, only two of whom reached adulthood.5,6 She lived with her mother at at Second Street in the Melbourne suburb of Mentone in 1937. This was a different address to her husband Charles.7 Winifred Amelia Oaten was a dressmaker in 1937.7

She married Charles Christian Olsen, in 1938.

She may have attended the wedding of her niece in the marriage of Harold John Neill and Violet Agnette Oaten at St. John's Church of England on Saturday, 20 January 1940 at the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell. The marriage was featured on the 'Weddings and Engagements' page of The Age and included a photo. Harold and Violet went on to have two children together.8,9 Winifred's occupation was given as 'home duties' in 1942.10 Winifred and Charles lived in 1942 at at Bundora Parade in the Melbourne suburb of Mentone.10

Her father died 12 April 1951 at the age of 85 at the approximate age of 85. Winifred was aged 39 when this happened. Winifred and Charles lived in 1968 at at 35 Fairview Avenue in the Melbourne suburb of Moorabin.11 Winifred was ill circa 1986. She suffered a stroke.12

Winifred died on 19 June 1995 at the Melbourne suburb of Keilor at age 83.3 Her body was cremated at Springvale Botanical Crematorium circa 22 June 1995 at the Melbourne suburb of Springvale.13
