Florence Farler was born in 1875 at Clifton, Bristol.1 She was the daughter of Alfred Farler and Elizabeth Russett.1 Florence Farler was baptised on Wednesday, 25 August 1875 at Bristol.1

Florence Farler married Henry Robert Oaten, son of Henry Oaten and Jane Strickland, in 1894 at Bristol.1 Florence Farler was a cigar maker before 1925.1 She was a publican between 1925 and 1956 at Bristol.1 Henry and Florence retirement in 1956 at their Bristol pub (The Rail Road Tavern in the Dings area of St Phillips). Previously, they had run pubs at The Volunteer, New Street, St Judes from 1925-1928; the Cambridge, Oxford Street, Totterdown in 1928 and the Beaufort Arms, Beaufort Street, Barton Hill in 1935. The Kelly's Directory of 1906 confirms that Robert Henry Oaten lived in Brougham Street, Barton Hill, Bristol.1
