Jane Burford was born in 1848 at Wilton, Taunton, Somerset.1 She was the daughter of Henry Burford and Elizabeth Oaten.1 Jane and Richard lived at 14 Comet St., Roath, Cardiff.1
She married Richard Thomas, a sailor on the SS City of Durham, at St. Margaret's on Sunday, 4 June 1882 at Roath, Cardiff. The marriage certificate shows Richard as a widower and Jane as being six years younger..1
