Sarah Read was born on 15 August 1784 at Herringfleet, Suffolk.1 She was the daughter of John Read and Margaret Batcheldor.1 Sarah Read was baptised on Sunday, 29 August 1784 at Herringfleet, Suffolk.1
Sarah attended the wedding of William Manthorpe and her sister Hannah Read in a Church of England ceremony on Sunday, 1 March 1807 at Herringfleet, Suffolk. They also signed the marriage certificate as witnesses. They were married by Banns *which were read on the 8th of Feburary, the 22nd of Februay and early March ;William signed with a mark and Hannah signed with her name. Others who may have attended the wedding include John Read as father of the bride, Elizabeth Allen as mother of the groom and James Manthorpe as father of the groom.2,3
