Roderick McKenzie was born in 1852 at Duntocher, Dunbartonshire.1
Roderick McKenzie married Mary Nicholson, daughter of John Nicholson and Elizabeth Jenkins, circa 1870.1 Roderick McKenzie was a railway porter in April 1881.1
He was recorded as head of household in the 1881 census with Mary Nicholson as his spouse at 294 South York Street, Govan, Hutchesontown, Lanarkshire. Also in the house were two of their young children and Mary's father John.1
