Elizabeth C. Malcolm was born in 1870 at Glasgow.1 She was the daughter of George Malcolm and Sarah McCheyne.1

Her father died 21 January 1871 at the approximate age of 32. Elizabeth was less than a year old.

She was recorded as living with her grandmother, her uncle and her aunt in the 1871 census at 23 Oswald Street (now Heron Street), Calton, Bridgeton, Lanarkshire. She was recorded as being 1 year old. Her mother was working as a nurse, most likely at the Royal Infirmary.2
