George Malcolm was born circa 1839 at Inverkeithing, Fifeshire.5,3 He was the son of John Malcolm and Isabella Mason.3,4

He was recorded as living with his parents and brothers Thomas and John in the 1841 census at High Street, Inverkeithing, Fifeshire. He was recorded as being 3 years old.

He was recorded as living with his parents and siblings Thomas, Cecilia, James and Esabella in the 1851 census at Gowkhall, Inverkeithing, Fifeshire. He was recorded as being 12 years old.6 George Malcolm was a riveter in April 1861.7

George Malcolm was listed as boarder in the 1861 census at Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland.7 He was a boilermaker and journeyman in October 1862.3 George lived in October 1862 at Customhouse Lane, in Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire.3 George was illiterate.3

George Malcolm married Sarah McCheyne, daughter of James McCheyne and Elizabeth Hawthorne, in an Episcopalian ceremony at St. Mary's on Friday, 31 October 1862 at Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire.3 George lived in 1871 at 24 Scotland Street, in Glasgow.8

George died at home on 21 January 1871 at Glasgow of diabetes insipidus, a rare form of diabetes not related to blood sugar-related diabetes mellitus, present for 12 months with a softening of the brain for several weeks..9
