George was born circa 1852 at Wolfe Island, Ontario.3,2 He was the son of Robert Gillespie and Elizabeth Martin.2
He married Frances Amelia Coxall, daughter of Laurence John Coxall and Amelia Darby, in a Church of England ceremony at Trinity Church on Tuesday, 2 December 1873 at Wolfe Island, Ontario.. George and Frances went on to have nine known children together.3,4,1 George Gillespie was a farmer circa 1875.2
He was recorded as head of household in the 1881 census with Frances Amelia Coxall as his spouse at Wolfe Island, Ontario. He was recorded as being 29 years old, and also living with four of his children and his mother-in-law.5 George Gillespie was a farmer.5
He was recorded as head of household in the 1891 census with Frances Amelia Coxall as his spouse at Wolfe Island, Ontario. His age was recorded as 39 years old. Also living inthe house were eight of their children aged from just a few months old to sixteen years.6 George Gillespie was a farmer.6
