Willi Alwin Gieseler was born in 1909 at Born am Darss, Germany.1

Willi Alwin Gieseler was a seaman and Cape Horner. He deserted the German four mast barque "Gustav" (Ex Austrasia, later "Melbourne") together with about 15 other german seamen in April 1928 at the Melbourne suburb of Yarraville.1

Willi Alwin Gieseler and Dorothy Pearl Woods lived in a relationship for about two years in or around Ouyen as a "married" couple under his name Gieseler (Giesler).1

Willi Alwin Gieseler left Dorothy Pearl Woods for reasons we can only guess. It was in the middle of the Great Depression, and Dorothy was very sick and needed treatment for wasting desease.1

In December 1934 he went back to Germany for unknown reasons as a firmeman/stoker on the steamship "S.S:Dortmund" from Sydney via Adelaide to Europe.1
