Joseph Springham was born circa 1848 at Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire.1 He was the son of James Springham and Mary Ann (?)1 Joseph Springham was baptised at St. James' on Sunday, 3 December 1848 at Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire.2
He married Annie Louisa Darby, daughter of William Darby and Eliza Webb, in a Church of England ceremony at St. James' on Monday, 28 April 1873 at Clerkenwell, London.. Joseph and Annie went on to have three known children together.2,3 Joseph and Annie lived in April 1873 at 54 Cowcross Street, Islington, London.2 His occupation was recorded as being a local merchant in the census.4
He was recorded as head of household in the 1891 census with Annie Louisa Darby as his spouse and children living at 21 Roydon Road, Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire. He was recorded as being 49 years old.5 His occupation was recorded as being a postal agent and publican in the census.5
He was recorded as head of household in the 1901 census with Annie Louisa Darby as his spouse at Roydon Road, Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire. His age was recorded as 52 years, and he was living with his wife, his son Joseph and his daughter Cecilia, and his wife's sister Sarah.6 His occupation was recorded as being a local merchant in the census. He was working from home, helped by his son Joseph.6
Joseph died circa September 1902 at Ware registration district, Hertfordshire.1
