Edward John Fooks was born on 7 July 1863 at Longford, Tasmania.1,2 He was the son of Rev. Samuel Berjew Fookes and Louisa Jean Hobkirk.1 Edward John Fooks was also known as Edmund John Fooks.3 Edward John Fooks was also known as Jack.4

It was reported in the papers on Friday, 19 November 1875 that one of Rev. Samuel Berjew Fookes's sons "E. Fookes" was hit in the eye at Richmond, Tasmania, with a piece of thrown china, and was likely to lose his sight.5

Edward John Fooks married Lillian Fooks, daughter of Charles Edward Fooks and Catherine Compton, at St. Stephen's on Tuesday, 1 January 1884 at Ashburton, Canterbury, New Zealand.6,7 Edward John Fooks departed from Hobart in December 1889 on the p.s. Newcastle The ship was bound for Emu Bay, Formby and Launceston.8

Edward died in 1922 at Victoria.9 Edward (and presumably his spouse Lillian) lived in 1924 at at 44 Blair Street in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg.2
