Catherine Anne Roberts was born in September 1839 at Harwich, Essex.1 She was the daughter of Lazarus Roberts and Mary Fooks.2
She was recorded as living with her parents and siblings, Charles, Arthur, Mary and Ellen in the 1841 census at at Brightlingsea Street in the village of Brightlingsea near the town of Colchester, Essex. She was recorded as being 4 years old.3
She was recorded as living with her parents, a servant, and siblings Arthur, Ellen, Alfred and Edward in the 1851 census at Harrison's Buildings, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. She was recorded as being 11 years old.4
