Lazarus Roberts was born on 19 August 1790 at Antony, Cornwall.1 He was baptised on Sunday, 5 September 1790 at Stoke Damerel, Plymouth.1

He married Mary Fooks, daughter of William Fooks and Ann Williams MacKenzie, by licence in a Church of England ceremony at the parish mother church of St. Mary's on Thursday, 6 March 1823 at Radipole, Weymouth, Dorset.. They went on to have a dozen children together..2

He was recorded as head of household in the 1841 census with Mary Fooks (which other records indicate is his spouse) at at Brightlingsea Street in the village of Brightlingsea near the town of Colchester, Essex. He was 50 years old. The 1841 census only recorded adult ages rounded down to the nearest 5 years; his approximate age was recorded as 45. Also in the household were five children and a servant.3 His occupation was recorded as being "L. HP Navy" which from other records probabaly means a Lieutenant on half-pay. in the census.3

He was recorded as head of household in the 1851 census with Mary Fooks as his spouse at Harrison's Buildings, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. He was 60 years old.4 Lazarus Roberts was a Commander, RN, on half pay.4

Lazarus died on 7 July 1873 at 5 St. James' Place, Plymouth, at age 82.1 He lived an interesting life, which is well documented at https://sites.google.com/view/therobertsfamily/lazarus-roberts-1790-1873-1?authuser=0.
