Emma Playl was born on 23 February 1829 at Chipping Ongar, Essex.1 She was the daughter of Jerimiah Playl and Eliza Darby.1 Emma Playl was baptised at Independent Chapel on Sunday, 12 July 1829 at Chipping Ongar, Essex. She was baptised by a Rev. Isaac Taylor. His daughter Jane wrote a little poem named "Star." This poem is now world famous and is better known as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."1 Emma lived in June 1853 at Chipping Ongar, Essex.1
She married Joseph Humphrey, son of Thomas Humphrey and Mary (?), at St. Boltoph without Bishopgate on Monday, 13 June 1853 at Bishopsgate, London..1
Emma died on 30 September 1853 at Haigh Street, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, at age 24 of phtisis (tuberculosis).1
