Richard Job Richardson was born on 21 November 1824 at Ticknall, Derbyshire.1 He was the son of Richard Richardson and Maria Bryer.1
He was recorded as living with his parents, three servants and his siblings John, Elizabeth, Charles, Thomas and Ann in the 1841 census at Church Street, Chellaston, Derbyshire. He was recorded as being 16 years old.2
