Marianne Richardson was born circa April 1854 at Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester.2,1 She was the daughter of Charles John Richardson and Emma Leonard.1

She was recorded as living with her parents, her uncle Thomas and two female servants in the 1861 census at 11 Monton Street, Moss Side, Manchester. She was recorded as being 7 years old.3

She was recorded as living with her parents, her mother's mother, a governess and two servants, and her sisters Edith and Lilian in the 1871 census at private house in Guywood Lane, Romiley, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 17 years old.4 Werneth House was reportedly built in 1863, and is still standing. It is a two storey stone freestanding house in Guywood Lane, and was perhaps the house that the Leonards were living in 1871 through 1881. The rooms are large and the ceilings are high; it is evidently an imposing place.

She was recorded as living with her parents, her grandmother, two servants and her sisters Edith and Lilian in the 1881 census at Werneth House, Romiley, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 27 years old.1

She was recorded as living with her father, two servants and sisters Edith and Lilian in the 1891 census at Guyworth Lane, Romiley, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 37 years old.5

The will of Charles John Richardson, in which Marianne Richardson, Lilian Richardson and Edith Richardson were named as heirs was proved on 21 June 1893. The value of his estate, divided equally between his unmarried daughters, was 9,472 pounds.6
