Joan Eileen Nicholson was born on 19 February 1925 at Eidsvold, in Gayndah, Queensland.1 She was the daughter of Daniel LeClerc Nicholson and Florence Annie Armstrong.1

Joan Eileen Nicholson married William Devantier at Pimlico Presbyterian Church in September 1947 at Townsville, Queensland. They were 22 and 26 respectively.1

Joan died on 9 December 1989 at Townsville General Hospital, in Townsville, Queensland, at age 64.1 She was buried on 11 December 1989 at Woongarra Crematorium, in Townsville, Queensland.1
