Walter Churchus was born in 1880.

Walter Churchus married Jean Mary Westbrook, daughter of Harry Joshua Westbrook and Juanita Amy Echevivia Smith, in 1913 at Melbourne. Walter was Lt. Colonel with the 7th Bde. Australian Field Artillery the Great War, eaning a D.S.O. Walter lived in 1918 at at 'The Moorings' 7 North Road in the Melbourne suburb of Elsternwick. He was buried in 1918 at 833 Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, France.

Walter died on 1 April 1918 Killed in Action, WWI.
