Edward Owen Giblin was born on 23 November 1849 at Claremont, Tasmania.1 He was a doctor, serving as medical officer in 1878 at Deptford Smallpox Hospital, in Deptford, London, during the smallpox epidemic.1

Edward Owen Giblin married Edith Harriet Westbrook, daughter of George Corney Westbrook and Harriet Ann Cottrell, on Wednesday, 6 August 1879. Edward Owen Giblin was a state parliamentarian in May 1891 at South Hobart and served for two and a half years.1

Edward died on 27 December 1895 at age 46.1
