Joseph was born in 1711.2 He was the son of Michael Wootton and Amy Parkhouse.1 Joseph Oaten was baptised at St. Andrew and St. Mary on Friday, 2 October 1711 at Pitminster, Somerset.
He married Elizabeth Ridge, on Friday, 1 January 1733/34 at Pitminster, Somerset..2,3
Joseph and Elizabeth Ridge became the parents of John Oaten circa 1739.2,3
His father died 3 April 1743 at the approximate age of 69.
Joseph died on 31 December 1761.1
