Alfred was born on Monday, 13 November 1871 at Launceston, Tasmania.1 He was the son of Augustus East Littler and Hannah Sarah Murray.1
He married Alice May Fookes, daughter of Rev. Henry Samuel Cox Fookes and Jane Maria Murray, on Tuesday, 13 May 1913 He was 41 and his wife Alice was 34.. Alfred (and presumably his spouse Alice) lived in November 1932 at at 41 Mayne Street in the Launceston suburb of Invermay.1
Alfred died on 3 November 1932 at Launceston, Tasmania, at age 60.1
His death was mentioned in a notice to the Launceston Examiner on 5 November 1932 on 5 November 1932:
His body was interred at Carr Villa Memorial Park on 6 November 1932 at Launceston, Tasmania.1

Funeral Notice: The funeral of the late Mr Alfred Edward Littler is appointed to leave his late residence, 41 Mayne Street, Invermay on Sunday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock for interment in the Carr Villa Cemetery."1
