Brian was born on Saturday, 8 May 1915 at Toowoomba, Queensland.1,2 He was the son of John Leslie Breheny and Dora Fookes Reid. He presumably lived with his parents in 1922.3

Brian Hillary Breheny began military service on Monday, 1 July 1940 at Hobart at age 25.1 Brothers John and Brian were both captured by the Japanese at the fall of Singapore and were part of the POW workforce on the infamous Burma Railway.4,3 Brian was on active duty with the 2/3 Machine Gun Battalion.1,4,3 He was released from active duty on 17 December 1945.1 He was a clerk.5

Brian Hillary Breheny married Nola Irene Gray.5 Brian lived in 1954 at 468 Macquarie Street, in South Hobart.2
