George was born on Thursday, 12 May 1831 at Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.2,1,3 He was the son of Sergeant Timothy O'Brien and Judith Julie Josephine McCoy.1 George and his wife Judith arrived at Sydney on 23 June 1846.1


He married Charlotte Holmes, daughter of William Hyde Holmes and Ellen O'Donnell, at St. James' Church of England on Saturday, 9 April 1853 at Sydney..4,2 George Edward O'Brien was as a Bailiff.1 He was a lieutenant.5 George (and presumably his spouse Charlotte) lived in June 1864 at at Leichhardt Street in the Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley.6

He was mentioned briefly in court case.7 He presumably lived with his spouse Charlotte at at Gibbs Street in the Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley in February 1881.8

George died on 2 December 1887 at 94 Crown Street, in Sydney, at age 56.9,1,10 His body was interred at Rookwood Cemetery at the Sydney suburb of Rookwood.9
