Christopher was born in 1889 at St. Arnaud, Victoria.1 He was the son of Albert Edward Oaten and Hannah Ackers. He presumably lived with his parents at Nicholson Street, in Ballarat, Victoria, in December 1890.2
He married Lillian Elizabeth Copeland Bennett, at Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, 30 September 1914 at Kerang, Victoria..3,4
Christopher died in 1958 at the Melbourne suburb of Glen Iris.4
