William was born in 1893 at Mount Hope, New South Wales.1 He was the son of Daniel James Grogan and Margaret Evyline Nicholson.

William Henry L. Grogan married Kathleen Margaret McDermott in 1916 at Cobar, New South Wales.2

William died on 28 April 1955 at the Sydney suburb of Redfern.3,4 He was buried on 30 April 1955 at at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park in the Sydney suburb of Botany Bay.5
