John was born in 1881 at Hillston, New South Wales.1 He was the son of John William Aplett and Frances Nicholson. He witnessed his nephew Argyle Hill's death on 24 May 1902 at at 'Thalaba' Muston Street in the Sydney suburb of Mosman. This cause of death means a short loss of consciousness due to a drop in blood pressure that was part of a general wasting away. From the first, Argyle must have been a weak baby, most likely due to being premature..2,3 John lived in 1903 at Bathurst Lane, in Brewarrina, New South Wales.4
He married Edith Gertude Wheatland, in 1906 at Cobar, New South Wales..5 John lived in 1919 at at Parramatta Road in the Sydney suburb of Auburn.6
John died in 1964 at Cobar, New South Wales.7,8
