Marguerite was born on Friday, 9 August 1907 at the Sydney suburb of Hunters Hill.1,2 She was the daughter of George Gibb Nicholson and Marguerite Marie Danuser. However, despite her given name she was known to the family, at least, as 'Masic'. The Nicholson family posed for a photograph c1910.

She presumably lived with her parents at at Gladstone Avenue in the Sydney suburb of Hunters Hill in 1919.3 Marguerite Marie Nicholson was secretary in the History Department, probably with Sydney University in 1940.2

Her father died 22 December 1948 at the age of 73. Marguerite was aged 41 when this happened. Marguerite lived in 1987 at at 21 Moorefield Avenue in the Sydney suburb of Hunters Hill. Marguerite was unmarried in 1987.
