Reginald was born on Friday, 4 November 1892 at Waratah, Tasmania.1,2 He was the son of Rev. Henry Samuel Cox Fookes and Jane Maria Murray. Reginald Murray Fookes was also known as Reginald Murray Fooks.2 His common name was Reg.3

His mother died 22 August 1903 at the age of 52. Reginald was aged 10 when this happened.4

He was in senior cadets in his youth.2

He may have attended the wedding of his sister in the marriage of Charles Leigh Clare Nicholson and Louise Augusta Fookes in a Church of England ceremony at St. Martin's Church on Sunday, 8 December 1907 at Queenstown, Tasmania. Louise and Charles went on to have three children together.5

He was apprenticed to the Mt. Bischoff Company for 2 years.2 Reginald Murray Fookes was a moulder in August 1914.2

Reginald Murray Fookes began military service on Saturday, 22 August 1914 at Pontville, Tasmania, at age 21. He joined the 12th Battalion of 3rd Infantry Brigade.2

Reginald Murray Fookes married Vera Linda Gertrude Smith in 1915 at Tasmania.1

His father died 10 February 1924 at the age of 76. Reginald was aged 31 when this happened. Reginald (and presumably his spouse Vera) lived in 1937 at 130 Davey Street, in North Hobart.6

Reginald died on 4 September 1949 at Royal Hobart Hospital, in Hobart, at age 56.7,8 His body was interred at Cornelian Bay Cemetery on 7 September 1949 at Cornelian Bay, Tasmania.6
