She was recorded as living with her brother, two young nephews returned from South Australia, two boarders and servant. in the 1861 census at 37 Burlington Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester. She was recorded as being 27 years old, but was probably closer to 30..5 Ruth Anna Leonard was a housekeeper in April 1861.6

Ruth Anna Leonard married Thomas Terry circa June 1862 at Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester.7

Ruth Anna Leonard was recorded as the spouse of Thomas Terry in the 1871 census at Lansdown Villa Wilmslow Road. She was recorded as being 38 years old, but was probably closer to 40.8
